Camp 500 was located in Ramsey beside Leblanc Lake, in Carew Twp. In 1945 the camp was acquired from KW Biglow and was to become the depot and loading point for wood being shipped from the district by CPR. The original camp consisted of 2 frame bunkhouses, kitchen, office, warehouse and barns.
In 1954/55 the camp underwent a modernization, including a townsite (see 1956 arial photo).

In 1964 the steam jammer for loading rail cars was replaced by a central slasher and loader, then in 1973 this was replaced by a tree-length loading system for shipments to the Nairn sawmill.
The camp and townsite was closed in 2002.
