The Birthday Massacre - Violet
Some people I know were surprised when I said that I was quite enjoying the new The Birthday Massacre CD, Violet, feeling that it hardly fit into the sort of music that I normally listen to. Of course, I do have some roots in that older more mainstream goth like The Cure and even Lush, both of which The Birthday Massacre remind me of. Toronto, Canada's The Birthday Massacre have been a growing success story, finding a large North American market after their success in Europe, where this CD hit the heights of the German DAC charts. If you like that poppy 'I'm so happy I'm a misunderstood goth, but I'm not about to let that get me down' sound, then this is right up your alley. Yes, you are alone in this world, but then again, lots of people are; they are all exactly like you and they all wear cool clothes, so come on, let's dance!
