I'm going to skip the pre-consolidation news and head straight into the most important developments in the entire history of the Realm.
Message Signed Incorrectly
Area734, formerly known as joang33, accidentally signed a message posted to the "Announcements" ether channel with her old alias. In a message entitled, "New Ether: Questions:Misc.", the Broppsfarian Magenta wizard posted the following:
I have started a new ether channel called Questions:Misc.. I hope that this channel is used by wizards both to ask and answer questions for new wizards who need help and don't know where to find it. It's sort of an all purpose "Now what do I do?" channnel. No mentor questions are ever allowed to be sent on this Ether!! Just use it as an oasis when you are at a loss for an answer about the game. I'll be here often to learn.

Fortunately, Area734 realized the nature of her mistake four minutes later, and posted a follow-up message entitled "RE: New Ether: Questions:Misc./Oops" to assist any confused parties:

Oops. I forgot to sign my new name to the last message. Sorry. Please visit my new ether and leave a message! If I am duplicating an ether that is already in place please let me know. I couldn't find one like it.

Pyrotoland Gets Small
Once upon a time, we used to divide Pyrotoland into two vague geographic regions: the Inner Realm consisted of Pyroto, Imaz, Restlech, Broppsfar, Paz Clafi, and Iard Crimleu, while the Outer Realm consisted of the hundreds of further-off mountains visited by explorers and pioneers.
       Now, a new and vaguely wizard-approved scheme has been implemented. A "Grey Veil" has semi-permanently separated five central mountains from the rest of Pyrotoland. The accessible mountains are Pyroto, Imaz, Restlech, Broppsfar, and Ri Shoo; all the others (except for Paz Clafi, which was destroyed in an unspeakably horrific disaster) have been tucked behind the veil, perhaps to be reopened at some later date. Wizards who lived on the outer mountains were allowed to relocate to the inner mountain of their choice, and those who expressed no choice were automatically relocated to Pyroto Mountain.
       Some say this new scheme was introduced to stop the problems with rogue wizards running away and hiding in the Outer Realm, or to discontinue the practice of wizards simply moving away to new homes whenever conflict arose. Others say it's simply the Servants' way of shaking up the ant farm and making us fight. Whatever the motive, consolidation has made web Pyroto a whole new game.
Phronk Creates a Pointless New Ether Channel
"Brush Your Teeth" is the 67th in a series of channels that celebrate Phronk's ability to use the Create spell.
Body Count
Consolidation has changed Pyroto's overall dynamic from one where every demotion had to be carefully explained and justified, to one where it is realized that not all acts of aggression are demonic. On top of one or two zombie banishments and many hundreds of demotions and promotions, the following major spells have been employed (the robe colours here are too ephemeral to keep straight):

Phronk has created the channel "Mountain Poiitics" in an attempt to capture the market on poorly-spelled political conversation, and urges all wizards with weak spelling to stop in and post often.
The Prodigal Soul Is Officially Bored
With the excitement of consolidation and the resultant Wars of Adjustment now dying down, The Prodigal Soul is finding himself with too much time and manna on his hands, and has spent a great deal of time visiting multiple mountains to spread awareness of his plight. AmbushBug Retires
In spite of being a fairly frequent target of kamikazes and other attack spells on Imaz, AmbushBug -- supported by an eight-wizard climbing team -- became the third wizard ever to reach the pinnacle. A notable long-term resident of Imaz, Pyroto, Restlech and Broppsfar, AmbushBug sealed his fate when he elected to attack the Prodigals clan and Bricker Prime in retaliation against their belligerent actions and words on Imaz.
       Immediately following his attacks, AmbushBug was reduced multiple times and placed in negative manna by The Prodigal Soul, who stated that AmbushBug would be kept in negative until he and the other victims of AmbushBug's attacks granted parole. Finding the balance of power in the land decidedly stacked against him, AmbushBug posted a goodbye message reading "It's been a wild ride, folks. I'll give your best to Nimby, Kirin, Mr.Gene, etc."

Though it's charming to take trips down memory lane, hijacking others into these trips is less charming. While you're understandably caught up in finding your favourite game resurrected in such a high-tech fashion, the rest of your mountain-mates are simply trying to get by. Perhaps you could consider reading messages from these new, "modern" wizards, and sharing in conversation with them. You might even find after awhile that it's quite enjoyable to actually play Pyroto, rather than just talk about playing it.

Meet Your Overlords: Ming
Ming has been playing web Pyroto longer than almost everyone else; she was also the first wizard ever to be banished (by some mean wizard named Ninjalicious). After extended tours of duty on Pyroto, Paz Clafi, Shipheli, and Iard Crimleu, Ming and her clan have settled on Imaz Mountain.
Were you happy with the results of the consolidation vote?
I think it's hard to be either happy or unhappy with the results. Although we were given two options, it's clear that we weren't given the whole story. The rule changes that accompanied the implementation of HOT were such that those voting for this option couldn't possibly have had any idea of the implications of their vote. Similarly, we have no idea what changes would have been implemented if RESET had won. So, it's hard to judge.
Do you have any thoughts on how the vote could have been handled better?
I feel that the Servants did what they thought was right. I would have liked more details but who wouldn't have lol.
What did you think of the decision to keep the mountains Pyroto, Imaz, Restlech, Broppsfar and Ri Shoo and hide the rest?
Something clearly had to be done to shake up the game. Wizards on many mountains had been complaining that things were "dead" for some time. From this point of view, some kind of consolidation was necessary for the sake of the game. As to the specific mountains -- Ri Shoo was the shocker. Most of us had figured it would come down between Iard Crimleu and Paz Clafi for the fifth mountain. In hindsight, it makes sense, causing a lot of wizards to move certainly has the effect of shaking things up, don't you think.
Certainly. Do you think the Servants chose the mountains with the intention of making Crimleuians like yourself move?
I think they used a formula to make sure that the largest number of wizards would be displaced, but that is just personal opinion with no foundation in fact.
What made the Prodigals choose Imaz Mountain as their new home?
Mostly the tasteful landscaping, and lovely Gothic Architecture of the Castles there.
       But seriously, it had to do with where the newbies were going, and our desire to participate in training them. When the Servants announced that all newbies would be coming to either Imaz or Pyroto, we felt that it would come down to one of those two mountains. It was a hard choice between those two mountains (wouldn't ya have loved the company, Ninj).

Have any significant changes been made to Imaz's policies since consolidation? Has there been much resistance to these changes?
The most significant "formal" change has been stating a "no mass promote policy". However, this isn't as radical as it sounds. In fact, most of the ranking wizards seemed to think that mass promotes would likely be reversed to begin with, so it was really just recognizing reality. Informally, there have been major changes to the structure of the game by the Servants. A lot of wizards have been upset by the implications of the changes.        Regarding resistance, there has been some "our mountain/their mountain" but we've been working with the "natives" on that issue. I think there has been more upset because of the changes to the game.
Since consolidation, your most hostile action has been to demote Thin_White_Duke 10 times. Are you not getting caught up in the more warlike atmosphere of Imaz?
Warlike atmosphere on Imaz? I much prefer to discuss gardening and babies. I especially love to visit Pyroto and read about everyone's cats ;-)
       Thin_White_Duke has been my most hostile action for quite sometime, not just since consolidation. My demote of him was in direct response to AmbushBug's mass promote of him. AmbushBug gave him 15 levels and I took away 10 of them. Since then I believe AmbushBug has said 'Au revoir' which is a shame since I respected him as a player.
AmbushBug's departure seems to have been founded on his belief that he would be permanently kept in negative by your clanmate The Prodigal Soul. Do you think that, following AmbushBug's attacks, this situation could have been handled in a better way?
The Prodigal Soul had no intention of keeping Ambushbug in negs indefininitely. AmbushBug did however reduce our clanmate Nichiren not once but twice and Andreus got reduced once as well. I believe you and I both know that most situations can always be handled in a 'better' way.
How are you and the Prodigals faring in the post-consolidation world?
We seem to be doing well. We're still digesting the implications of the new rules, but they seem workable. We think we're making a positive impact on Imaz and look forward to continuing to work with everyone there. And we're having a lot of fun.

Of course I'm not bored! The Prodigals is the most fun Clan in the Realm. Do you have any idea how busy Soulrift [a.k.a. The Prodigal Soul--ed.] keeps us lmao.
Are the Prodigals are the most powerful force in the land right now?
LOL!!! I don't even know what that question means. I look at groups like the Cabal/Enstatics who appear to be in firm control of two established mountains and say that they're certainly an established force. Likewise, your group is firmly in control of Pyroto. In comparison, The Prodigals are only one of several groups who work to establish a consensus on Imaz. We certainly don't "rule" there or on any other mountain.
       On the other hand, as a defensive alliance, we're very powerful. Any of us would do anything to protect another clan member. I'm not sure any other clan can say that. Given that we have a lot of very powerful wizards in the Prodigals, I think there is a tremendous deterrent factor to anyone who might consider attacking the Prodigals. That's where any power we have flows from.
So, the source of all your clan's power is the fear of retaliation?
I didn't say it you did.
What do you think of the major changes that have been made to the game since consolidation, such as scaled promote costs, the new support calculation and reduced manna bonuses at high levels?
They're all very positive. What the Servants seem to be saying is that from now on, you're going to have to work harder to get to the top (mass promotes are less feasible, for example). Also a greater emphasis is placed on teamwork. Further, because of the support rules there will be limited slots at the top, and people will have to work to stay there. Hopefully, all of this will get people to participate in all aspects of the game.
What further changes would you like to see made?
Changes to the color scheme would be nice:-)
Do you think Pyroto is working better or worse now than it was two months ago?
Mostly better. I think the players are, by and large, more active, and that more and more players are making an effort to learn about all aspects of the game, instead of just climbing and posting.
