Denis Arnold was not a very interesting man. He sometimes attempted to impress people by saying that he was a writer. "Oh?" would come the reply. "Get anything published?" Denis would answer in this way: "Yes." He could leave it there, or perhaps make something up, but he couldn't just let it go at that. He had to inform the listener that his only published work, to date, was a small book entitled, "Twenty Opening Moves in Chess." It wasn't a very interesting book.
Once Denis became somewhat excited. This was when he thought of a follow up to his first book. His second book would be thicker. His second book would have an unexpected twist. The title would be "Sixty Illegal Opening Moves in Chess."
Denis went so far as to write this book. He sent it away to a publisher, who informed him shortly that the book quickly got too predictable and besides that, was a piece of trash.
This upset Denis and made him cancel his third book, which he was already half way through. "Twenty Moves to Follow E4," was left incomplete.
Denis was not an interesting person.
