There are just the four of us, for a week in
May 2006: Connie, Peggy, Rol and I.
It's Cuba for the vacation, because it's cheap and supposedly good value. In hind
sight, that's all true. And beyond that, people are friendly and the place is safe. I want
to see this country before the system turns over and changes to a western society - if and
when that should come about. Then, if the lessons from the turn of the east bloc countries
are true here as well, crime will be omni-present, large sections of the country will
become desperate back waters and a few will become so rich they will have to protect
themselves with guns and bribes. The Cuba of today will be gone forever.
So, let me show you a few snapshots from our trip.

Here's the hotel in Varadero, It's
called... - oh, darn, I forgot the name already, but that doesn't matter... |

Havana, as we four tourists see it: once
proud, and now struggling. But people make the city, not buildings. And we are happy about
what we see, on this one-day excursion by bus. |

A Cave near the resorts, and it's the
"real thing", with bats, stalagmites and ancient paintings |

and the Trip on the Canimar River -
what else but a boat trip would you expect from a canoe nut like me.... |
